Keep your eye on this page for more information about what happens in Mariehamn 22-25 July 2021.

Mariehamn offers social events and all service facilities within easy walking distance. The event in Mariehamn will be in a very concentrated area right in the centre of the town, with a one kilometer walk from the West Harbour to the East Harbour.

Together with our partners we will have a shared vision for a sustainable event. Hopefully even by implementation of a sustainable event standard or “green port” initiatives.

Initiatives for the Tall Ships Races 2021 will range from reusable water bottles, so visitors can choose tap water from water stations instead of bottled water, to the whole event being run on 100 % renewable energy. Here you will be able to take part of the best Åland has to offer in crafts and food.

Our event may not compete by numbers of visitors but with a closeness and familiarity which will encourage friendship between young people as the vessels are berthed side by side in the harbour.

Åland is considered unique for several reasons: its autonomy has existed for nearly a hundred years, the solution was arrived at without force of arms, and Åland is both self-governing and demilitarised.

To commemorate Åland's 100 years of autonomy, a celebration will start in June 2021 and culminate on 9 June 2022. So everyone taking part in the Tall Ships Races 2021 in Mariehamn can join in on our centenary celebration.
